Lead Special Education Teacher
Merakey is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our Education Services team within in Children's and Family Division in our schools in Leechburg, PA This position requires a current PA Special Education teaching certification.
This is a full time benefited position with a traditional 10-month school year schedule and year-round salary.
Additional hours and compensation available with ESY (Extended School Year) over the summer.

Responsibilities:
Point person for teacher concerns (e.
g.
, students, operationally, etc.
)o Mentors and guides all new teachers/substitutes.
o Serves as the building leader and support for the overall operations of the school which includes but is not limited to mechanical systems, evacuation and crisis plan, supplies/materials.
Requires being familiar with physical operations of the building(s).
o Monitors teacher monthly reports, student program books, content and compliance, raising issues as needed.
o Communicates concerns from staff, students, parents, as needed.
o Reviews and monitors individual education plans (IEPs) for content, compliance, and meeting deadlines.
o Reviews teacher lesson plans and provides feedback to Program/Education Director.
o Provides administrative support and medication administration.
o Review and monitor documentation and reports for quality and completeness, ensuring adherence to timelines are met.
o Assume roles and duties of the Education Director in his/her absence.
o Other duties as it pertains to the role.
